Raffaele
Frumenti was born in Rome in 1922, in Borgo Pio, an
ancient quartier near St. Peter. Painter for vocation,
he manifested the ability to express himself artistically
since a child, when he, just for fun, used to construct
tiny theatres, taking care of scenography and painting
the background. In the first years of post-war period
he painted and made many different jobs. In this period,
that he himself defined the yellow period, his pictorical
production showed traces of the stay in Sicily; Piazzetta
del Sud (Little square in the South) - Il ragazzo
con il somarello (The boy with the little donkey)
- Le comari (The wives) - Uomini di paese (Countrymen)
- Cantastorie (Ballad singer) these are some titles
of the works of that period. The predominant colors:
golden ochre, brown, intense green and limy white.
