The
Nocchia Art Gallery has been active in the Arts
field for over thirty years. The Nocchia family
started its business in Civitavecchia (RM) where,
to this day, they still own two art galleries, one
in Via Matteotti 75/b and the other in Via A.Cialdi
3/df. It was there that the gallery began working
its way up presenting to a wider audience new up
and coming artists which have today come to be some
of the most significant names in the contemporary
art world. Over the years several individual and
collective exhibitions made the Nocchia Gallery
one of the best and most renowned names in the contemporary
italian art gallery scene. Then, in 1999, the opening
of the Cortona gallery. It was an immediate knock-out!
Located in the town center, Via Nazionale 59/61,
Galleria Nocchia is run by Marco and Paola who managed
to make this gallery a meeting place for artists
and customers from all over the world. During winter
2002/2003 the Gallery has undergone substantial
restoration work which very much enhanced its premises
as well as brought prestige to the town of Cortona.
Inside
the Gallery you will be able to view an impressive arch
dating back to roman times, an old 18th century baking
oven, an oil drip in local sandstone and an over 60
foot deep etruscan well, all of which add to the charm
of the setting which the artwork is on display in.
In Cortona too, Galleria Nocchia exhibits both emerging
and established artists and offers, throughout the year,
individual and collective shows and meetings greatly
appreciated both by italian and foreign patrons.
