This
artist, born in the Venetian hinterland in 1945 of
a French father, attended the Academy of Fine Arts
in Venice. In this city of art, where artists flock
from all over the world, Raffandré came into
contact with famous masters, under whose direction
he underwent a severe artistic apprenticeship. His
particular aptitude for painting allowed him to learn
over a fairly brief period of time, the techniques
of drawing and of painting in water-colour before
progressing definitely to oil painting. He then moved
to Paris where he was able to study for several years
the works of the Impressionists and his love of sun
inspired colours of nature; his still-life paintings
bring to mind thoses paintings of the French school.
"...The foregrounds stand out softly from the
backgrounds and observing one of Raffandre's paintings,
the importance of colour, studied and used in all
its vast chromatic range, can be understood ..."
He returned to Italy full of energy and with a wise
experience, taking part in group exhibitions of national
interest and winning positive recognition from both
the critics and the public alike. In the last works
the artist has expanded his paintings on the frames
which has made the most of his Tuscan and Venetian
landscapes.
